Dr. Jagdeep Kumar Nayak

Post Doctoral Researcher

Dr. Jagdeep Kumar Nayak is a Postdoctoral Researcher working on the DOT.GREEN project in the Circular Bioeconomy Research Group at Munster Technological University, supporting the development and optimisation of the Green Biorefinery Pilot Facility.

Jagdeep is an environmental bioprocess engineer with expertise in wastewater treatment, anaerobic digestion, bioenergy production, and resource recovery.

He holds a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, where his research focused on bioremediation and bioelectricity generation using photosynthetic microbial fuel cells. He also holds an M.Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering, along with a B.Tech in Biotechnology.

Dr. Nayak has diverse international research experience, having worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Bernal Institute, University of Limerick, Ireland, and previously at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.

His work spans digestate valorisation, hydrodynamic cavitation pretreatment, bio electrochemical system, thermophilic anaerobic digestion, and the development of integrated waste-to-energy systems.

He has coordinated projects in solid waste management and contributed to both lab-scale innovation and pilot-scale bioprocess development.

He has published extensively in high-impact journals and contributed to multiple book chapters and international conferences. His broader research vision focuses on advancing sustainable technologies for circular bioeconomy transitions, bioresource utilisation, and low-carbon energy pathways.
