MainstreamBio sets out to get small-scale bio-based solutions into mainstream practice through a consortium partnership across 7 EU rural regions (NL, PL, DK, SE, BG, ES, IE) each with a variety of feedstocks, infrastructure, and expertise to build engagement and create sustainable value chains and business models that will support the development of the EU circular bioeconomy.
To support this development, this initiative offers hands-on innovation support for bio-based projects, accelerating the development of bio-based products and services for primary producers and partnerships that aim to adopt sustainable business models and diversify their income with small-scale biobased solutions. With the involvement of the partners from diverse fields across Europe, supports will be offered that draw on their combined knowledge and experience.
Who Can Apply:
Initiatives / projects that seek to implement small-scale bio-based solutions may apply. This includes Primary sector players such as farmers, foresters, fisheries, bio-based technology providers or converters of residual streams. Partnerships within the bio-based space are also encouraged to apply such as small businesses, self-employed people, academia & research institutes, as well as social initiatives.
What is provided:
With the support of expertise from our consortium partners in 10 countries, the initiative offers the following business and technical mentoring/support to the bio-based projects of successful applicants:

- Guidance in accessing funding
- Matchmaking
Technical Supports:
- Pilot project implementation advice
- Technology scouting
- Pilot project implementation advice
- Scale-up advisory
- Technology-economic analysis
- Nutrient management and fertilization
How is support offered:
Selected applicants will participate in online or face-to-face meetings (depending on location restrictions) with the relevant support team on an ongoing process throughout the period of the initiative.
