Dr Amita Guneratnam

Dr Amita Guneratnam is currently working as a Project Manager for the FANBEST project within the Circular Bioeconomy Research Group under Shannon ABC at IT Tralee.
She completed her graduation in Chemical Engineering at R.V.C.E, Bangalore, India. She worked as a Technical Sales Representative for AkzoNobel , dealing with B2B customers in the OEM market for aviation, shipping industries.
A few months later she joined a multinational FMCG as a Research Executive for UNILEVER in India. At Unilever she had the opportunity to work on notable brands such as Lipton and Knorr. Lab scale formulation, pilot plant studies , consumer studies were all implemented to achieve product performance and specifications.
To pursue her higher studies, she moved to Ireland in 2014 where she completed her PhD in Energy Engineering specializing in Biofuels. Her PhD dealt with the potential of third generation gaseous biofuel feedstock.
She is currently managing the FANBEST (Funding Atlantic network for Blue Economy Technology Transfer) project which is funded by INTERREG, European Regional Development Fund.
